Terms of Business

We are the longest established recruitment consultancy specialising in the placement and training of salespeople at all levels in the Advertising and Communications industries including Exhibitions, Conferences and Direct Marketing.

Extensive experience in this field, coupled with the fact that all our consultants are themselves ex-industry people, has given us a unique insight into the business and its requirements.

Any vacancy registered with us will result in an immediate search for suitable candidates already on our files. Our service is flexible to the client's particular needs and takes the form of the following:

Recruitment

If the client registers the position with us, the fee for successful placement will be:

• 15% of the first year's salary and any guaranteed bonus or commission, with an 8-week guarantee period on salaries up to £30,000
• 20% of the first year's salary and any guaranteed bonus or commission, with a 13-week guarantee period on salaries over £30,000

We do not charge for company cars or on target earnings schemes.

Advertising Assignment

If, after discussion, we feel that the client would benefit from a full assignment procedure, where the client bears the net cost of the advertising, the fee for the successful placement will be 18% of the first year's salary and any guarantee bonus or commission, with a 13-week guarantee period.

Graduate Recruitment

In response to our clients needs in this crucial area of recruitment we provide a dedicated consultant to appraise and select the most suitable candidates for consideration at first interview. This ensures that briefs are adhered to as closely as in our more senior recruitment activity.

Search

For a senior position or a specific vacancy, and after thorough consultation, we are able to headhunt selected candidates in the industry. Our fee for this service will be an agreed initial retainer, and on successful conclusion a 25% placement fee covered by an agreed guaranteed period of 13 weeks.

International

Over the past 10 years, we have been increasingly successful in placing senior personnel in such countries as France, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, Oman, Bahrain and the Philippines. Since 1999, Anthony Carreras has been resident in Sydney, Australia where he has successfully established CLA Associates Pty. He and his team offer a similar service to clients and candidates down under.

The Small Print

The fee still applies if the candidate is engaged within 14 weeks of initial introduction by any department or person within the company.

The fee is fixed as detailed above unless prior written agreement exists. If the invoice has not been paid within 4 weeks of the candidate commencing employment, all guarantees and refunds are rendered inapplicable. References will only be taken up at the company's request. In the rare event that a candidate fails to meet the guarantee period, we will undertake to find a replacement free of charge. Should this not be possible, for whatever reason, or should the client decide not to replace the employee, CLA Associates will reimburse any monies paid less an administration fee of £250.

If a candidate has been made redundant within our guarantee period the introduction fee is still applicable.

If, as a result of our introduction, a new business venture is started, a fee of £5,000 will apply. There is no guarantee period applicable.

If, as a result of our introduction, staff are hired on a short term basis, then a pro-rata fee will be charged. Thus, where an applicant is recruited for a 3 month period, for example, a quarter of the normal invoice amount will be chargeable. If the position then becomes permanent, there will be no guarantee period. All our other normal terms and conditions will apply, less any monies paid for the short term appointment.

If a job offer is made within 8 weeks of the end of an assignment, our normal fee is payable.

If, as a result of our introduction, one of our candidates is hired on a freelance basis, a flat fee of £3,000 will apply after a 2 month period. If the placement becomes permanent, a full fee is then payable, less any monies paid for the freelance appointment.
